“Nature” Art Exhibition – May 2012

“Nature” Art Exhibition – May 2012 post image

Our art competition for April was “Nature” and artists where asked to submit art which depicts the physical world. “Nature” is considered to be anything that was not created by or has been substantially altered by man. Subjects that would encompass “Nature” would include geographical matter, natural objects, wildlife and natural environments.

The submission process and competition for the artists began in the middle of March 2012 and concluded on April 28, 2012. We received 829 entries from 229 artists, from 15 different countries from around the world, including the Australia, Austria, Canada, China, Germany, India, Ireland, Italy, Mexico, Netherlands, Poland, Russia, Spain, Turkey and the United Kingdom. In addition, we received entries from 35 different states.

Due to the volume of entries we felt that it was necessary to create two (2) media categories, in order to make the judging and the results fair. The media categories are Painting & Other Media and Photography. In addition, for this particular competition we have an Overall Winning Artists Category, which is the “best of the best” and consists of the ten (10) best entries from the 2 media categories.

Due to the high volume and the outstanding quality of the entries received this month, we will award our normal 1st through 5th places, 5 Honorable Mention awards and then a group of Special Recognition awards for each media category mentioned above. The amount of Special Recognition awards is based on the volume and the quality for that particular media category.

Any of the artists in the Special Recognition group could have easily been included in the upper rank of the winning entries in each category, as their art was also exceptional. In addition, most of the artists who were not chosen could have easily received Special Recognition awards, as their artwork was also outstanding. We hope that you will take the time to also enjoy their beautiful art work too. To view the artwork in each media category, click on the thumbnail image and that will take you to the Slide Show, which contains larger images. In order to leave the Slide Show at any time, just click on the large image in order to escape.

All winning entries will now be featured on the Light Space & Time website for the month of May 2012 and thereafter, the artworks and links to the artist’s websites will remain online in the Light Space & Time Archives. Congratulations to our artists who made our “Nature” Art Exhibition so successful this month. At any time, we invite our winning artists and other interested visitors to link their websites to the Gallery’s archive page for further ongoing promotion.
