1st Place – Mary Ann Wakeley – “L’Envers”

Mary Ann Wakeley is from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and her artwork is an expression of an affinity with color and line. Mary Ann states, “I use them to depict a rich inner landscape, one that is colored by a feeling or need that occurs during the creative process. Within this landscape, are stories that take place at any point in time, snapshots of moments’ new and perhaps relived, relationships that play out where the actors are represented by any number of marks. 2nd Place – Nihal Kececi – “Those Days”
Nihal Kececi is a Turkish born artist now living and creating in Maryland. She works in acrylics, oils and pastels and creates her works in a large scale. She has been generating a consistent body of work as a professional artist and taking classes at the Washington Studio School in Washington, DC and the Yellow Barn Studio, MD since 2004. Despite Nihal’s talent in art, over the years she studied physics and nuclear engineering and worked in the software analysis field in the U.S. and Canada. In 2003, one of her mentors recommended that she devote herself exclusively to painting. Over the span of her career as a professional artist, she has experimented both with premeditated and spontaneous painting processes. Nihal’s website is www.nihalart.com
3rd Place – Jessie Parker – “Dance the Night Away”
Jessie Parker has been a “photo based” artist since the 1970’s. She says about her work, “My art has pushed the envelope both technically and visually, and often goes beyond the “traditional” depiction of subjects, playing with what is real and what seems real but isn’t.” Jessie’s art has been called visionary and the transformative as it is “re-presenting the world and inviting us to see otherwise.”
Since 2001, Jessie’s work has been entirely digital and since 2009, she has been specializing in “photo based digital painting” combining photography and painting into a digital mixed media. Her website can be found here: www.photobasedart.com
4th Place – Stephanie Visser – “Reclining Nude”

Stephanie is originally from Michigan, but now lives and works as a California based artist. Her are is best described as being consistently inspired by her interest in the natural world and its collision with the emotional world of human beings. Stephanie speaks about her art as, “People, places and things that reveal themselves to the viewer are nonspecific and yet, perhaps recognizable as something known or remembered, like that name or that word you struggle for on the tip of your tongue.” Her work has been shown in many exhibitions throughout California and nationally. 5th Place –Branka Prokic – “Morning”

Branka Prokic lives and creates her art in Serbia. Besides painting, Branka works as a teacher for children with special needs. Branka states, “Working with kids and painting are two things I am most passionate about. I started painting in high school and nature has always been my inspiration. 6th Place – Subodh Maheshwari – “Connection”
Subodh Maheshwari was born in Aligarh Uttar Pradesh, North India. Highly individual in style, her works have been described as emotional, mysterious, personal and humorous. Subodh has participated in many shows nationally and internationally including the fourth Cosmopolitan Exhibition, in the 1988 Olympics in Seoul, South Korea. Among the numerous honors she has won is the Regional Fellowship Award at the University of Ca. Irvine, where she earned her Master of Fine Arts degree. She lives and works in Southern California. Debra Vanderlaan, is an award winning photographer based in Florida. Her photography centers on images from Appalachia, South Florida and many other locations around the world. Christina Sedlmaier is an artist who lives and works in Chicago, Illinois. Christina is a mother, a dancer, a 2 dimensional artist and lover of life. She states that, “my greatest inspiration to my art is human bodies. Their intricacies and the ability of expressing a vast range of things: from a fleeting momentary state to documenting the path a life has taken.” She likes to work in the following media; oils on Masonite, inks, markers, graphite and Conté crayon on paper. Elizabeth Graehling is a Bloomington, Illinois artist. She is a mixed-media art student who consistently tries to make the standard calendar day 30 hours instead of 24. She favors creating 2 dimensional mixed media art, with an emphasis on drawing. 10th Place – Pamela Goodyer – “Beginnings”

Pamela Goodyer studied at The Philadelphia Colleges of Arts in the 80’s. She went on to a printing, advertising and design career and eventually law enforcement. In 2010, after a series of personal tragedies, she found her way to photography. Her new obsession was her camera and her creations. She has travels widely and she speaks to God all the time… “If you want me to document your created beauty of the earth, all you have to do is get me there… and I will do the rest.” Pamela plans to travel as much as God is willing to make possible in the coming years.
