“All Women” Art Exhibition – February 2012

ALL WOMEN 2012 ONLINE ART EXHIBITION – ARCHIVE

Our art competition for January was “All Women” and the subject was an “open theme” and for women artists only. The submission process and competition for the artists began in the middle of December 2011 and concluded on January 29, 2012. We received 1,219 entries from 21 different countries from around the world, including the Armenia, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Bulgaria, Canada, Denmark, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, India, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Northern Ireland, Serbia, South Africa, Sweden, Turkey and the United Kingdom. In addition, we received entries from 39 different states.

This made for our largest art competition to date, in terms of artists and entries. Due to the volume of entries we felt that it was necessary to create four (4) media categories, in order to make the judging and the results fair. In addition, for this particular competition we have an overall Winning Artists Category, which is the “best of the best” and consists of entries from the 4 media categories.

The following are the categories that we created from the entries received; Mixed Media, Painting, Photography and finally an Other Media & Drawing category. Each category has an explanation as to the specific media which makes up that category (see below).

Due to the high volume and the outstanding quality of the entries received this month, we will award our normal 1st through 5th places, 5 Honorable Mention awards and then a group of Special Recognition awards for each category mentioned above. The amount of Special Recognition awards is based on the volume and the quality for that particular media category. The Overall Winning Artists Category consists of what we considered to be the top ten winning entries from all 4 media categories.

Any of the artists in the Special Recognition group could have easily been included in the upper rank of the winning entries in each category, as their art was also exceptional. In addition, most of the artists who were not chosen could have easily received Special Recognition awards, as their artwork was also outstanding. We hope that you will take the time to also enjoy their beautiful art work too. To view the artwork in each media category, click on the thumbnail image and that will take you to the Slide Show, which contains larger images. In order to leave the Slide Show at any time, just click on the large image in order to escape.

All winning entries will now be featured on the Light Space & Time website for the month of February 2012 and thereafter, the artworks and links to the artist’s websites will remain online in the Light Space & Time Archives. Congratulations to our artists who made our “All Women” Art Exhibition so successful this month. At any time, we invite our winning artists and other interested visitors to link their websites to the Gallery’s archive page for further ongoing promotion.
